  • How did you come up with the name Before the Butcher™?
    • We felt our name needed to reflect our Vision, Mission and Commitment to our customers. To us, Before the Butcher symbolizes the plight of domestic animals butchered in inhumane ways to feed the masses. We hope to provide a solution to feeding the world before the butcher is necessary.

  • What is Plant Meat?
    • Plant Meat is the terminology we use to describe Before the Butcher plant-based protein products. Since “meat” traditionally means “solid food as distinguished from drink” per Merriam-Webster.com and dictionary.com, we believe the term Plant Meat is a perfect description of our plant-based protein products.

  • Are your products gluten-free?
    • Yes, all of our products are gluten-free.

  • Do your product’s contain GMO’s?
    • We are proud to say that none of our products have ingredients that have been genetically modified. We only work with suppliers that can provide Non-GMO ingredients for our products.

  • Are your products Vegan?
    • Definitely! All of our products are Vegan.

  • What is the main source of protein for your Plant Meat?
    • The main source of protein for our Plant Meat products is soy. For many, soy is considered a “near perfect” food. It is one of the few complete plant proteins. High in fiber, potassium, magnesium and isoflavens.

  • Are your products organic?
    • Though some of our ingredients may be organic, our products are not certified organic.

  • Why do you use canola oil?
    • We believe expeller pressed canola oil is the healthiest widely available oil suitable for our products. Canola has the lowest percentage of saturated fat of any cooking oil. It’s loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids which makes it one of the most heart healthy oils. The canola oil we use is expeller pressed(NO chemicals used to process) and Non-GMO Project verified.

  • What do mean when you say, “where PLANT meats PROTEIN™”?
    • That’s just a little play on words that we use to describe our plant-based protein products. Plant + Protein = Plant Meat. I think you get it…

  • How long is the Plant Meat good for?
    • If you keep it frozen, our Plant Meat is good for 14 months from manufacture date. After you thaw it out, we recommend you consume the product within 7 days.

  • Are your products kosher?
    • We are not yet Kosher certified, but hope to be in the near future.

  • Do I have to cook your Plant Meat?
    • Though our Plant Meat is already fully cooked, we recommend you heat it up just like you would actual chicken, beef or pork.

  • Are all your products produced in the USA?
    • That’s right! We are proud to be an American company with all products with all our products made in California.

  • Where can I get your product?
    • Currently our product is only available in food service. Please stay in touch as we hope to be in retail grocery stores someday very soon.
